The Sunshine State Young Readers Award is a children’s choice award program in Florida, jointly sponsored by the Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME) and the Florida Department of Education. Students must have read at least three titles on a master list in order to be eligible to vote, and titles must be available in paperback by the start of the school year.

This is gobsmacking on so many levels I can't even count them all.  Florida!  Who knew?  And best of all, the prize will be voted on by actual kids.  It's truly an honor just to be nominated, but I'd be so chuffed if kids read this book that is so close to my heart and love it enough to vote for it.  I have no idea when I'll hear, but it's a much-needed shot in the arm.

Now, back to my regularly scheduled death-march and the first five chapters of Freedom Maze.  Again.
