Radio in 1960

Prior to plunging into what I sincerely hope is the last draft of The Freedom Maze, I thought I'd do a little more research. First, there can never be too much research, particularly since I'm inclined to put off the restructuring and re-visioning of the opening chapters as long as professionally possible. Second, I relied a little more than I should have on my unreliable memory for the scenes set in 1960, and am in sore need of some telling detail.

Which I don't know where to look for. The internet is splendidly generous with information about "Radio in the 1960's", but I look in vain for something that might tell me what would have been available to listen to specifically in rural Louisiana in the summer of 1960. Were there radio listings in newspapers then? Shall I go to the library and order up microfilms of The Times Picayune? I'm grand at finding out what people had for breakfast in 1600, but 1960 is just too modern for me.

I'm counting on you, my fellow history geeks, to keep me from making a fool of myself. There will be acknowledgements.
