We Haven't Been in Finland Too Long

Tero forwarded this to me, and I thought I'd share.  1, 2, 3, 8, and 12 all but had me convinced that we are, in fact, Finnish.  But we're having a spot of trouble with 15.  In fact, we got yelled at by some (admittedly not entirely sober) guy for crossing against the light yesterday.  My current compromise is only to j-walk in the company of other scoff-laws.  So far, it's working fine.

We're getting on a train in an hour or so, at which point I'll catch up with a post on our two days in Helsinki.  Short version:  two Arts&Crafts era houses, Kalevala art at the Ateneum museum, shopping, another Moomin exhibit, laundry.  Today, we begin our trek to Kajanni, with uncertain internet access, so this you may not hear from me for a couple of days.  Play nicely while I'm gone.

Re: The dish draining closet
Thanks, Johanna! And may I just say that, if they think Americans are loud, they haven't heard the 4 teenage Finnish girls eating lunch in the train car with us on our way to Jyvaskyla (and, YES! the Pendolina trains have WiFi!!!)?

re: the loud teenagers :-)
Hah, the myth of all Finns being silent and subdued is going to be proven wrong when you travel to the Eastern Finland! Eastern Finns (Karelians and Savonians) are certainly more lively, talkative, social etc than the ones from the Western coast... but of course the old tribes are now mixed, partly because the evacuees from Karelia were shattered all over Finland.
