Camera query

Oh, hive mind.  I have a brand-new Panasonic Lumix camera, with rechargable batteries.  I am in Finland, where the current is not the same as it is at home.  Apple, which switches current for me, has spoiled me utterly for packing current converters as a matter of course, so I don't have one with me.  Neither do I have the manual for the camera.  Can anybody tell me if I need a converter to plug in the battery recharger for the camera?  Because it's almost out of juice, and we've got several beautiful places left to visit, and it would be the pity of the world if I couldn't photograph them.

Which model? All the replacement chargers come with a European adapter so, at a glance, I would say that yes, you need a converter...

Look at the back of the charger, where all the small print is. What's the volt range it gives? If it goes up to 230V, you're fine and just need an EU plug adaptor.

It says 110-240V, so I guess I'm good to go.

Thank you so much.

You are welcome so much! And hey, we benefit from your working camera, too. Finland, wow, is such a beautiful place! Did you and EK see the Bordertown pictures I posted to her journal?

What Lutin said. If it says it can accommodate 230V you're ok. I neglected to do this for my US-purchased camera charger, and now I have to use disposable batteries :-( At least the camera still works, though.

You might be able to find a pdf of the users' manual at the Panasonic website.

Might be worth checking if the camera can charge from your computer, via USB. Otherwise, most likely you need a converter.

My new lumix (DMC-ZS7, the little red GPS version) is a US model with US battery charger.

It does not need a current converter when plugged directly into the most basic US/UK socket adaptor as it seems to happily handle that by itself. I've yet to take it to the continent though.

Because of lutin and savadotty above, I'm pretty confident it'll work as is. I'll let you know if it doesn't. 8-/
